The MK-17 is a mobile, air-cooled, oxygen / propane-operated, blast simulator that has the ability to reach 140 decibels, directionally, when fired. The simulator has a 30 second safe arm function when power is applied and the unit is turned on. The advantage of this simulator is that it has the ability to replicate large detonations, such as roadside IEDs, artillery fire, and mortar fire, where others do not.

The black subdued finish and sleek rugged design of the simulator enhances its concealment. This cost effective penalty has both military and civilian applications, creating realism in any training evolution. The construction of the housing has given the simulator the ability to fire multiple shots without overheating, all while the ability to withstand different weather conditions.
